Video: iPod integration in a 2010 Lexus RX
I wasn't very impressed with the iPod integration of the previous Lexus RX model. The audio system even still had a...cassette deck. Of course you could use a cassette adapter to play your iPod but come on. A cassette adapter in a Lexus isn't exactly the epitome of class. But in this new model they seem to have done it right.
I tested iPod integration using my 3G iPhone. The USB connector is nicely hidden away underneath a plastic box in the central armrest console and there's a specially made hole to bring the cable into the armrest console to plug in the iPod/iPhone. Good points already here for finishing. The iPod interface itself is operated using a little joystick and a click button which works like a mouse on the central display. Operation is quite easy and intuitive. Sound quality is great.
The system worked perfectly with my iPhone. I didn't test it with my iPod but it should work fine too.
Good marks to Lexus for the upgrade of their audio system to integrate the iPod. It was only normal for a car of this class and price.
P.S. Apologies for the bad framing halfway the video.
